About the Defibrio AED and app

The Defibrio AED provides life-saving technology in a small, user-friendly device that is powered by a smartphone. There are two main advantages to the combination of the device and a smartphone:

  1. Unlike most commercial AEDs, there are no batteries in the Defibrio AED that need ongoing charging, maintenance, or replacement. Modern phone batteries have more than enough power to provide the shocks needed. (See the next section for details on device requirements.)
  2. The Defibrio app provides step-by-step guidance in an emergency. That includes calling emergency services, providing shocks if needed, and instructions on performing CPR. You do not need to memorize these instructions. We recommend you familiarize yourself with the process by reading this manual so you know what to do in case of an emergency.

The Defibrio app also provides training resources, access to medical data if it’s used in an emergency, and more.

WARNING: The Defibrio AED and app do not function independently. To provide life-saving care in an emergency, the device and the app have to work together, so following the setup instructions is very important.
