If the Defibrio app IS NOT already installed on your smartphone

  1. Call 911 first
  2. Scan the QR code on the AED, on the pad pouch, or on the quick start guide with your phone camera to install the Defibrio app from the Google Play Store
  3. Connect the phone to the device using the AED’s attached USB cable.
  1. The Defibrio app should open automatically on your smart phone. If it doesn’t, tap the Defibrio heart icon to open it. You’ll be asked to trust the AED. Do that, then tap “Emergency.”
  2. Tap “allow” to all the installation questions. The AED won’t work without this.
  3. Follow the instructions the app gives you for these steps:
    1. Remove all clothing covering the chest area. Then apply pads as shown.
    2. The app will check the patient’s heart rhythm. If instructed, press the button to give a shock when the app is ready. Make sure no one is touching the patient, the AED, or the smartphone during analysis and shock delivery.
    3. Perform CPR. After about two minutes, the app will check the patient’s heart rhythm again and may instruct you to deliver additional shocks.
