There are a number of steps you can take to ensure your phone is prepared to be used in an emergency with the Defibrio AED.
- Keep your phone volume turned up so that you can hear the Defibrio app instructions clearly in any environment
- Keep your phone screen brightness at a high level to ensure you can easily follow the step-by-step app directions
- If your phone battery falls below 15%, a battery warning icon will appear in the app title bar. That does not mean you can’t use the Defibrio in an emergency – you can still shock a patient 10 times or more with 15% battery left. Even though you can use the Defibrio with a very low charge on your phone, we recommend keeping your phone battery level above 50%. If your phone’s battery dies altogether, perform CPR until emergency services arrives.
- Cybersecurity considerations
- Set your phone to automatically update to the latest version of Android OS. Search “Software updates” in Settings to find where you can enable automatic updates.
- By default, the Defibrio app is always automatically updated. If you need to customize your settings, update settings are in the Google Play app.
- Maintain a strong passcode or biometric security on your phone and a strong password on your Defibrio account. Your Defibrio account requires a complex 12-character password.
- If you acquire a new phone that is compatible with the Defibrio AED, install the Defibrio app on that phone, launch the app, then tap “Sign in.” Signing into your account will restore your data. Once installed, you should run the Defibrio self-test by going to “Test Mode” in the app.
