Applying the pads correctly is critical to providing life-saving care. Here’s a more detailed guide to using the Defibrio pads.
Pad basics
- The pouch with the pads sits in the left pocket of the Defibrio sleeve inside of the soft cover. They’re pre-connected, and when they need to be replaced, they have an easy snap-in/pull-out connector.
- Inside the pouch, there are two sticky pads with a disposable blue liner separating them.
- The pads have plenty of cable to reach from the AED to the patient.
Getting the pads ready
- Open the pouch: tear from the notch at the top left (follow the arrow on the pouch label).
- Tear down vertically to open the pouch.
- Pull the pads out of the pouch.
- Pull the cables out of cardboard cable holder and discard it.
- (The pouch stays attached to the cables – just ignore it.)
Applying pads
- Remove one pad from the blue liner by holding the red tab and peeling.
- Look at the sticker on the pad for where to place the pad on the patient.
- Peel the second pad from the blue liner by holding the red tab, then discard the blue liner.
- Look at the sticker on the second pad for where to place the pad on the patient

Replacing the pads
Your Defibrio AED can be used many times, but the defibrillator pads are for use on one person, in one emergency (single-patient, single-use). After use, and once the emergency is over, disconnect the pads from the AED and throw them away.
After using the device, you’ll get an email with a link to order new pads at no charge. You can also order free replacement pads directly:
- +1 857-425-6298
When you receive your new pads,
- Plug the pads into the defibrillator completely, until they snap into place.
- Run a self-test as described earlier to make sure the system is working correctly.
- Enter the pad expiration dates in the app.
- Tuck the pad pouch into the pocket inside the front cover of the Defibrio AED and return it to storage.
Once the pads are connected, do not disconnect them unless they’ve been used.
